Welcome aboard and thank you so much for visiting our site!

We are Team Whale of a Time, Lauren Woodwiss & Jemma Rix and are rowing the Atlantic in December 2018.

We met at university during our hockey club initiation. Both having a love for the outdoors and all things active, we were soon doing marathons and endurance events together. Over a rather ambitious conversation and a few to many ciders at a local festival, the idea of doing a big event for charity was born. A few months later the plans were put into motion and now we are getting ready to row the Atlantic in December in aid of Mintridge Foundation.

The race is estimated to last anywhere from 50 to 90 days and include searing equatorial heat, ocean storms and 40 foot waves along with anything else Mother nature and her friends throw at us. The race starts in the Canary Islands and finishes in Antigua.

We wanted to raise money for Mintridge Foundation, as we both believe that sport development and encouragement is vital for a healthy body and mind. Mintridge Foundation is public funded, and we wanted to do something extreme & outside our comfort zone, as a catalyst to raise whatever money we can to help Mintridge Foundation reach more children in more schools.
